About the Episode
Welcome to the South Cypress Podcast, where members of the design community share their stories, knowledge, and expertise.
Today we’re joined by Mickey Davis. Mickey is the current Director of Sales and Installation at Carpet Specialties. He has been in the flooring business for nearly 50 years. If you’re connected to the design community in Birmingham he probably needs no introduction.
Mickey and I talked about his story, how he got involved in the flooring business, and what it’s been like connecting to the design community. He shared about how his perspective changed after a significant health event.
We also talked about what Mickey calls “paying our civic rent” - which is how he and the team at Carpet Specialties seek to be good stewards and give back by offering pro-bono flooring work for charitable organizations in our community.
I’d also like to mention that Mickey serves on the board for Studio by the Tracks here in Birmingham. Studio by the Tracks is a studio for artists with autism. If you’re interested in learning more about this great organization please check them out at studiobythetracks.org
I was challenged by this conversation with Mickey, and genuinely enjoyed it. Thanks for giving it a listen.
